The Cabernets from 2006 is a beauty. This wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% cabernet Franc and 25% merlot. The result is a full but subtle palate with briary characters coming to the fore. Some new French oak had a big influence in giving this wine balance and texture that will see it mature in the bottle for many years.

The Chardonnay from 2006 is a beautifully balanced wine with restrained oak and the flavours of citrus and melon all coming together.

My 2006 Pinot Noir has settled down and is exhibiting strawberry and cherry characters similar to previous years. This wine is of medium weight and has soft tannins, making it ideal for early consumption, but there is enough acid present to reward those who will put this wine down for a few years.

The 2006 Shiraz is a stunner. Showing all the best things that a cool climate Shiraz can have. It has refined spice characters and lovely integrated vanillin oak. The balance of tannin and acid means that, while it is drinking well now, it will mature well over the next five years or more.
